Emma is a versatile violinist playing in most styles from classical through to rock.  At the age of 16 she joined original rock band The Rye and spent ten years touring  Britain and Europe, recording, and appearing on various radio and television broadcasts.

As well as performing with Djangology, she can currently be heard on albums by alternative rock band, Field Music, and occasionally glimpsed on MTV in their music video ‘Do Something Different’. She also performs regularly with The Eden String Quartet, Blue Horizon Country Band, and as a duo with Paul Donnelly.

At the age of 26 (having given up for the moment on becoming an international rock star) she returned to Newcastle University to study music and during her four years there she learnt an immense amount from Australian classical violinist Joanne Green, as well as studying free improvisation with Dr Matthew Sansom and North Indian classical music with Guru Arun Debnath.

Emma also enjoys teaching violin and cleaning up after her two children Willem and Lizzie, whilst listening to some Hot Club  jazz or Cuban Son.
